Are You Winning the Talent War?

Are You Winning the Jobs War?

Job BenchmarkThere is a  “Jobs War” going on to find and retain the best talent, but for many employers hiring is more “by the gut” than by science.  The results of “by the gut” hiring often results in a “bad hire” which can be, and often is very expensive.

But recruiting costs are only the beginning.

Hidden Costs include:

  • Relocation costs
  • Training and education
  • Team morale
  • Increased supervision
  • Loss of proprietary information
  • Salary loss
  • Advertising costs
  • Interviewing costs
  • Criminal and credit checks
  • Reference checks

Some hiring managers say that this is just the cost of doing business, and it is, IF you continue to do the business the way you always have in the past.

Maybe it is time to change your battle plan.

As we say here at San Antonio Executive Coaching: If the job could talk, it would explain precisely what was necessary to hire right and to achieve superior performance. We would ask it to tell us about the:

  • Knowledge a person needs for the job
  • Personal attributes required to drive success for the job
  • Rewards needed for superior performance
  • Hard skills vital for the job
  • Behaviors necessary to perform at peak levels
  • Intrinsic motivators needed to make the job rewarding

Recruitment Process – Whether your company recruits themselves or uses an agency, recruitment is expensive. The process can be long, expensive, frustrating and overwhelming when trying to recruit and retain top talent.   Going into the talent battle with worn out tactics and unscientific equipment is like going to a gun fight with a knife.

So how do you propose to fight the talent war?

Below are your chances of a good hire:

0% for a Flip of a Coin

14% for an Interview Only

26% after adding Background Checks (this is where most companies stop)

38% after adding Personality Testing (Behaviors only)

54% after adding Abilities Testing

66% after adding Interest Testing (Behaviors and Motivators)

75% after adding Job Match Testing (Behaviors, Motivators and Acumen)

At San Antonio Executive Coaching we use a patented process to help you hire and retain top talent.  Our process includes all of the above (except the coin flip) to help you reach a nearly 80 percent chance of hiring right.  Contact us to learn more.
